What about the Japanese version of 'The Grapes of Wrath' - The Angry Raisins - that would make a great cake!

I think the iconic David Pelham cover for 'A Clockwork Orange' would translate rather well via the media of marzipan, icing and food colouring. Or anything by Murakami - the minimalist red white & black themes might work nicely. Now I'm getting hungry just thinking about it...

'Catcher in the Rye' - it could just be a plain white iced cake to denote the empty lake, cos all the ducks disappear in the winter ;-D
