I finished my first plunge into writing about a year ago and your description of delving into the world of your characters is right on. I laughed and cried with them through the whole adventure, it is a murder, mystery and when the inevitable end presented itself, I felt as though I had lost some very dear friends. I actually, physically missed them and because of it went back through and tweaked it and rewrote a chapter here, a chapter there for months after. I finally self published it, after dozens of publishers, without even reading the manuscript, said they did not take on new authors. I would still like it to get picked up by a traditional publisher, but slowly I am getting it in the hands of readers and getting fantastic reviews thus far. I can only hope my second book, which I am beginning now will be as fulfilling as the first.
