Competition: Tell us your pitch!

Everyone loves a competition, which is why we’re announcing the details of our new writers’ conference with a great giveaway, so get your (virtual) pens at the ready.

On Saturday 13 March, we’re holding a conference for writers, called the ‘Insider Guide to How to Get Published’. We’ve brought together some of the top names in publishing to make it a day to remember.

Jo Herbert, the editor of the Writers’ & Artists’ Yearbook will be there, as will a host of guest speakers including:

  • Liz Calder, co-founder, Bloomsbury Publishing and more recently Full Circle Editions
  • Richard Charkin, Executive Director, Bloomsbury Publishing
  • Julie Myerson, author and journalist
  • Rebecca Swift, co-founder of The Literary Consultancy
  • Andrew Kidd, Senior Literary Agent, Aitken Alexander Associates
  • Bill Swainson, Senior Commissioning Editor, Bloomsbury Publishing

You’ll find full details of the conference if you click on this link »

There’ll be useful info on every aspect of getting your manuscript out into the marketplace, so do come along.

The day is open to all writers, whatever stage you’re at. So whether you’re still brainstorming ideas and plots or already have a finished manuscript, there will be lots of invaluable guidance on hand.

Tickets to the event cost just £60 each and if you book before 31 December 2009, you can even get a special ‘early bird’ discount.

And with our special competition one lucky person will be enjoying a free place at the event. If you’d like to enter, simply tell us your pitch for your book in 20 words or fewer: email your entry to waybconference@acblack.com by 4 December 2009.

(We’ll choose our favourite entry and notify the winner by 18 December 2009. The publisher’s decision is final.)

Hope to see you in March!

Best wishes,

Claire
(Publisher, Yearbooks)

Weakness/strengths evident, language clear and succulent,
Engagement -level three, soulful, and efficacy
