A big thank you to everyone who took part in our recent competition!
We asked you to write a pitch for your book in 20 words or fewer, for a chance to win a place at the 'Insider Guide to How to Get Published' conference.
In the end we had hundreds of entries and the standard has been extremely high. It's been a tough call choosing a winner, but finally we picked someone whose entry really sparked our imaginations and left us wanting to read more.
So a big congratulations to Brendan O’Neil whose fantastic pitch wins him a place at the event.
And even if you weren't lucky this time, we still have a treat for you. If you book for the conference by 31 December 2009 you will receive £10 off the price of your ticket as an early bird discount. So hurry, what are you waiting for?
Taking place on Saturday 13 March 2010, the ‘Insider Guide to How to Get Published’ will bring together some of the top names in publishing and promises to be filled with an array of info on every aspect of getting your manuscript published.

it would be nice to read winning enteries to your competitions. i entered the 20 word conference compo and would find it useful to compare my own entry with the winning pitch...

Hi John, Thank you for commenting and for your interest in the recent competition. We do not print winning entries to our smaller competitions/offers as unfortunately it can encourage some users to question the judges' decision, which in common with all competitions of this kind, is final.
We do always like to encourage a sharing of supportive views, though, and if you'd like to add your own 20-word pitch to this thread, please go ahead.

Congratulations to the winner. I also entered the competition and agree with John that it would be really helpful to view the winning pitch. I am not sure that allowing this would encourage the questioning of the judges decision. I also think that there is not really anything wrong with questioning?

It is helpful to see the winning entry for something meaty like WAYB's short story competition, but this is more in the nature of an offer for the conference.
Anyway, I'd love to see other entries please - so do post what you submitted here!
