Help finding an agent

I want to write anonymously about my life and need help finding an agent who can be trusted. My book isn't written yet, so I need to know if there is any interest.

It's a shocking story, in the same way that Waris Dirie's book, Desert Flower, was shocking but compelling

It's best if you write first (Not sure if you can get an agent first) but to find one, you're best bet is to look in the 'Writers' and Artists' year book.

    Hope this helps.

To do that you have to submit with a synopsis running to about 20 pages explaining your story and why it is so compelling. You'll be using that as your pitch unless you can produce the first thirty pages of the book instead, but I would actually go with a long synopsis for an autobiography because you need to get the whole story across to them. Your writing will be judged too but it is less important because they can always bring in a ghost to help you if the story is that good.

So you need a cover letter explaining who you are, 20-30 pages explaining the story and the right agent to send it to. There are agents who specialise in biography and ghost writing. One who springs to mind is Andrew Lownie. Also, his website is nicely specific about what he wants from you in a submission.
