The Self-Publishing Conference is the UK’s only dedicated self-publishing event, offering authors a chance to find out about a wide range of publishing options, to hear from and question those who work within the thriving self-publishing world, and to network with fellow authors, many of whom will already be experienced self-publishers.
Now in its eighth year, the conference is supported and sponsored by many familiar names, including Writers’ & Artists’, Nielsen, Matador, the Historical Novel Society, The Book Guild Ltd and indie-go.co.uk. The event attracts experienced professionals from the worlds of editing, marketing, production, design and distribution. The 2020 and 2021 conferences have had to be cancelled because of the ongoing Covid 19 situation, but at the 2022 conference we welcome speakers from, among others, The Booksellers Association, the Society of Authors, the Writers Guild of Great Britain, the Writers' & Artists' Yearbook, and bestselling fiction author Sophie Hannah.
The informal event aims to educate, inform and inspire authors who are publishing their own work, or who are considering that as a route to publication. The day attracts a wide variety of authors, from fiction to children’s, non-fiction to business, and the day is structured so that delegates can choose those sessions through the day that are of the most relevance to them.
Previous years have seen overwhelmingly positive feedback for the event, and it tends to sell out quickly. In 2022, the cost of attending will be £85.00, with an 'early-bird' registration of just £75.00 until 1st December 2021. Full details of the conference speakers and sessions can be found on this website, along with a registration form. In addition, we have made many resources from previous years’ events available in our resource centre.
2022 will see an Industry Panel discussing the different routes to publication and the benefits of each, and how to avoid the sharks in the industry.
