24th April 2019 - 6:00pm to 8:30pm
Even for talented illustrators breaking into the world of freelance practice can be daunting.
In an exclusive evening masterclass for Writers & Artists, Derek Brazell and Jo Davies highlight many of the practical steps illustrators can take to make sure they are producing the right kind of imagery that will get them seen by potential commissioners. Attendees will also have the unique opportunity to receive direct feedback and advice on their work.
The agenda for the evening will see Derek and Jo focus on how you can become more confident in developing your folio of illustration work; give advice on approaching potential clients; and offer guidance on how to make your promotion work for you. Tackling each of these elements will give all attendees the best possible chance of becoming a successful illustrator.
Derek and Jo will discuss key aspects of what is required to find potential clients, sharing essential information that will give you direction, whether you are developing your folio of work or hoping to give your career a push. They will also bring a practical element to the masterclass by working through relevant exercises from their book, Becoming A Successful Illustrator, and focus on what is required for practice within various areas of illustration, such as children’s books, publishing, greetings cards, design and advertising.
If you would like to be considered for a folio or website review during the evening please email firstname.lastname@example.org and use the subject line 'Illustrator masterclass'. Your documents need to be with us at least two weeks before the event. Both Derek and Jo are happy to answer questions relevant to your own practice if time allows.
