12th December 2018 - 6:00pm to 8:30pm
Writing about your own life can be a difficult task. How can you make your own personal story appealing to a larger audience? This one-off evening masterclass with Helen Croydon will answer this question and give you the tools you need to plan and craft a successful memoir.
Over the course of the evening, Helen will help you to identify story worthy elements of real-life events and how to work them into an engaging story arc, as well as sharing essential legal things you need to know when writing about real people and the emotional challenges of sharing your personal story with the world.
Refreshments will be provided and Helen’s books will be available to purchase.
Helen Croydon is a journalist and author of three books – two of which are memoir. Her latest title This Girl Ran: Tales of a Party Girl Turned Triathlete is her story of ditching a glamorous city girl lifestyle, toughening up through outdoor sport and qualifying to be a GB triathlete.
As a freelance journalist she has written for all main UK national newspapers and several magazines. As a broadcaster she’s a regular paper reviewer on BBC News Channel and Sky News or you may have seen her joining topical debates on Good Morning Britain, This Morning, Woman’s Hour and more. She has behind-the-camera experience too as a freelance producer at ITV News and ITV London News. Helen is also a writing tutor at City Lit and a media trainer and coach with Nine Media Training. Outside of journalism she is an ‘age group’ GB triathlete and endurance sport addict.
