3rd March 2021 - 7:00pm to 8:30pm
If you're an illustrator looking for a creative space to help hone ideas and bring character sketches even more alive on the page, this workshop is exactly what you need.
This session with illustrator Diane Ewen makes up part of our inaugural online Children's & YA Fiction Festival. Diane will take you through the process of creating a picture book, covering everything from character development to finding your own style and technique, as well as provide the sort of inspiration and advice that will leave you itching to go back to the sketches you're busy developing.
30 minutes will be reserved for a Q&A.
All attendees reserving a place at this event also receive free access to An Introduction to Children's Publishing in 2021, a video interview with Alysoun Owen, Editor of the Writers' & Artists' Yearbook and the Children's Writers' & Artists' Yearbook. A link to the interview will be circulated by email ahead of the festival, and remain available to view for one week.
Diane Ewen is British illustrator, born in Walsall, in the West Midlands. She has always been in love with art and graduated from the University of Wolverhampton with a B.A. Honours Degree in illustration. Diane likes to create illustrations that are hand-drawn in pencil before painting in watercolour and acrylics prior to embellishing them using Photoshop but she also enjoys working directly on the computer screen creating her designs; constantly developing her style as she progresses.
Diane’s latest picture books include Never Show a T-Rex a Book, written by Rashmi Sirdeshpande, and Coming To England, written by Floella Benjamin.
All workshops are available to purchase separately but come as part of our Children's & YA Fiction Festival 2020.
The workshop fee of £30 (inc. VAT) is payable in full online and includes a £5 charitable donation to the National Literacy Trust.
