Join two leading children's and YA fiction literary agents for this two-hour online masterclass in which you'll receive how-to advice on how to produce a covering letter, guidance on producing an attention-grabbing pitch, tips on writing a synopsis, and general insight into the role literary agents play for their authors.
Thirty minutes will be made available for a Q&A, plus all attendees have the unique opportunity to submit their covering letter to receive feedback from one of the participating agents.
Please note that while picture books will be covered, this event will be of most use to writers of middle grade and YA fiction.
18:00- 18:45: A how-to session on knowing when your novel is ready, finding the right agent and what to include in a submission package.
18:45-19:30: Advice on how to pitch your novel
Davinia Andrew-Lynch founded ANDLYN in 2015, a boutique agency dedicated to finding storytellers whose material can not only exist on the page but can also find an outlet through other media territories.
Davinia was previously an associate agent at a highly reputable film and television agency, and worked simultaneously as a freelance children's fiction editor and reader for various publishers, literary agencies, consultancies and scouts. Davinia's clients include writers and illustrators, including Anabelle Sami, Malcom Duffy, Claire Goble and Bex Hogan.
Thérèse Coen is an agent at the Hardman and Swainson Literary Agency. Alongside handling all the agency's translation rights, she is building a fiction and non-fiction list for both children and adult titles. She is interested in and looking for books across all genres; books with a strong hook, original concepts, captivating worlds and kick-ass protagonists. Amongst her clients, she represents Maria Kuzniar, Alex English, Alex Bell

This is an online event which will be presented using video conferencing software. Joining instructions and full guidance will be provided before the event start-date.
This is a live event taking place on Wednesday 3rd February, with no subsequent recording made available to view. Any speaker presentations, however, will be made available after the event.
