From time to time, we like to recommend writing groups, events and festivals that we think offer a great opportunity for fellow writers to meet and share their experiences. One of these groups is the wonderfully lively London Writers' Cafe.
Started in June 2006 with just a few, LWC is now one of London's biggest creative writing groups with more than 1,800 members. Here founder Lisa Goll tells Writers & Artists more about the LWC:
"Our community is lively, energetic and passionate about helping each other to improve our writing through regular feedback sessions, industry workshops and lectures. Our purpose is to give all of London's emerging writers the opportunity to read and share their work to their peers for advice, critique and support. We're always friendly, constructive and ready to offer helpful tips as to how to get your writing in the best shape possible before submitting to agents, publishers or competitions.
Our meetings take place every few weeks at venues close to Liverpool Street station. We also host publishing talks, workshops, author events and social gatherings which are open to any of our writers who wish to attend. At feedback sessions, you'll meet and hear from writers working on novels, short stories, scripts and poetry but all creative writers are warmly welcomed to join us. We love chatting to writers and we'll happy answer any queries or questions, simply get in touch with us via the links below."
