Hello. I have a question about using the names of real products and companies in a fictional story I am writing. It is based in England and Scotland and all the characters are purely fictional, but to add a touch of reality I'd like to add some real references, some of which include; The Caledonian Sleeper (train), Pot Noodles, Land Rover, Raleigh bicycles, Dalwhinnie Distillery, Fort George (Historic Scotland). Do I need to seek permission? Are the names protected? Or can I just add them to the story without asking? Thank you in advance for your replies. ANDY
My books will resonate with; outcasts who struggle to fit, people interested in gay culture, folks curious about the impact abandonment can have on child’s life and people seeking nostalgia with a working-class edge. I share the true stories of a 70s motherless toddler, an 80s class clown and a 90s rent-boy.
Fascinating story about an athlete buying the rights to this book which is now a major screen success. I have identified a book by a very well known author that has never been adapted - except by me in writing class - and I would be interested to know how you go about finding out who holds the copy right. Anyone able to help?
