Publicity
Involves generating media and public awareness and interest in a book through press releases, book signings, launches and events, book reviews and mailings, and television and radio interviews with the author.
Publicity campaign
Designed to attract media and public interest in a new book through press releases, social media, television, radio and events.
Review copy
An advance copy of a book sent to magazines, newspapers and/or other media for the purposes of review. A 'book proof' may be sent out before the book is printed.
Targeted media list
A list of journalists or publications (in areas relating to the topic of a book) to be contacted with information or a press release about a book, so that they may refer to it in their writing or broadcasting.
Unsolicited submissions
The manuscripts a publisher receives directly from a writer without asking for them, and without an agent. Most larger publishers will not read unsolicited submission.
