Marketing
Involves creating strategies, promotional and preview material (including BLADs) for sales teams to use, organising advertising and representation to the intended market and distribution channels including booksellers. It can involve social media campaigns.
Press release
A statement that is distributed to the media announcing upcoming book launches and events, so that the book or event may be referred to in articles or reviews.
Proof
A bound set of uncorrected reading proofs used by the sales team of a publishing house and as early review copies.
Publicist
A person who generates and manages media and public attention for a book, through writing press releases, arranging events, book signings, author interviews and book reviews.
Publicity
Involves generating media and public awareness and interest in a book through press releases, book signings, launches and events, book reviews and mailings, and television and radio interviews with the author.
