Glossary

CMYK
CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Key/Black) is the colour space for printed materials.
Distribution
When books (often via a distribution company that deals with orders, shipping, revenue and returns) are transported to bookstores; e-books are distributed by online retailers for sale.
Edition
A quantity of books printed without changes to the content. A 'new edition' is a reprint of an existing title that incorporates substantial textual alterations. Originally one edition meant a single print run, though today an edition may consist of several separate printings, or impressions.
Folio
Sheet of paper folded twice and trimmed to make four pages of a book.
Formatting
The act of a manuscript being arranged so that it can appear in the correct manner on the page
