Agents abroad

I am at the stage where I need to find an agent, I am English living in Sweden, writing in English, which is easier for me, I cant afford to have the book translated, I am hoping to have an agent in the UK to take on my work, or would it be easier to find an agent here in this country who would be interested in a book written in English?

Another question on the same subject, when finding an agent do you pay their fee directly. As you understand I am a novice writer, and grateful for any answers to help me

Thank you, your answer is very encouraging. My copy of the Writers and Artists Yearbook is on its way to me from the UK.I am looking forward to it.

Many thanks Miriam

No reputable agent or publisher should charge you any money. My best advice - get an up to date copy of the Writers and Artists Yearbook which lists all UK agents and what type of writing they represent. Good luck!
