hello there, wonder if you can help me. i've just finished writing the first book in what will be a series of fantasy horror novels for young adults. my question is this; when i'm ready to approach an agent with the first novel, obviously i send a covering letter, synopsis etc for the first book, but should i include a synopsis for the future books i hope to write as well? thus far i've the first three planned out. can you please advise? best regards, sarah

Usually the agents tell you what they want on their website, as each of them ask different things some time.

If it is vital to mention there is a continuation (the story in book one doesn't end, instead it leaves the reader with a cliffhanger) then sure include it, but don't sent them a synopsis of the following books, that will confuse things I believe.

Sent them only for the book/chapters of the first in the series and just mention that you plan for the story to be a series and that you have worked on the following two as well.

If they are interested in your book, then they will probably request that you sent them the following synopsis, but the idea I believe is to get them interested in the first book and then mention that you are working on a continuation, UNLESS of course, I say it again, the story is just one big story that is split in more than one book and there is no real ending until you reach the end of the final book in the series.

That’s what I would do.

Good luck with submissions,

Christopher
