I'm looking for a working relationship with another writer. I write short stories only, not genre based. Most of my pieces are under 3,000 words.
I am looking to develop a working type relationship with another writer of short stories. Non genre or 'literary' based would work best for me since I do not read thriller/fantasy/horror/romance and would not feel 'qualified' to offer constructive criticism.
I have an MA in Screenwriting and have had several short stories published in small literary magazines/won small competitions.
I am looking to improve my own writing and to help anyone else who may feel they have no-one to 'share' their writing with except family or friends - not always our 'best' critics!
I would like to work with someone who is not afraid of saying what works and what doesn' in an accessible, articulate and informed way.
If there is anyone that likes the sound of this way of working, then please let me know.
Initally, I was thinking an exchange of a first peice, a weeks turnaround to read, reflect and tehn offer comments back to one another.
Kind regards
G'Day Emma,I've had a number of short stories published in Australia - some paid for. I'm an amateur with no qualifications in writing however I do have a degree in Biology with English as one of my sub-majors. I've been involved with writers groups (U3A) in Tasmania where we used to do exactly what you're proposing. I tend to write across a number of genres with women's magazine fiction being my preferred market at the moment. Despite appearances (ie my Photo) I am retired and eager to exchange stories for consideration if you wish. Only just joined this website yesterday but am eager to build working relationships. All the best.
Hi Emma, your proposition sounds good to me. I am an aspiring writer and have never publish any work though I have some manuscripts that I circulate among friends. How do we benefit each other? Thank you.
