How do you deal with criticism?

Replies

If it's a book I might read, I'll check out the reviews, but I don't necessarily buy based on them.

Dealing with criticism? That's a difficult one. It depends on what it is. I like to think I take in constructive comments for future reference because it's all a learning curve. Like most things in life, really.

Flip comments or destructive stuff I ignore. Well, I try to. It does tend to stick in the back of your mind for a few days. Was my writing/story really that bad?

But then it wears off. Life's too short to worry about the odd crackpot ;)

If it is someone whom I follow and regularly look forward to their updates then yes, however if I am set on reading a book and just reading the reviews to give a preview my mind will not change. If it is highly critical I will often start the book with a negative mindset, almost setting myself up for disappointment... Don't know about others but that's what I think.
