I am in the early stages of writing and illustrating my own children's book - which I would like to see about the possibilities of it being published. Can anyone offer advice on where I can start, or if I can start sending some of my work to some publishers?
Hi Frankie,
You start by writing the book. It's a long process, and you have to perfect it. You have no chance of getting anything past any publisher unless it's finished and has been gone over several times with a magnifying glass. Then you can start the process of trying to get someone to notice it - or publish it yourself.
You can't put illustrated work up here - or at least, no-one ever has, so I'm assuming that's the case. If the writing and the illustrations are part of the whole reading experience, you'd need to find a site where you can do that (though never the whole thing, obviously).
Best of luck!
You might want to test your writing on peer review sites or post a sample here.
p.s. If you found my reply useful, if [admittedly] depressing, don't just say so: give me a "thumbs up". I'm saving up points for an "Invitation to attend an author event at Bloomsbury's offices" and need 43 more "thumbs up" to make it.
