Big Problem, Help needed!

Hi to you who is reading this post,

I was working on an outline for my novel and came across a character that had shown me a cause for concern. The problem I'm talking about is that he is a humorous character and likes to joke around, he is also a leader to an organisation so he is vital to my story. Except I am no good at writing humour, in fact I would say I'm not that humorous at all. So how should I tackle this issue?

You can be amused by life or annoyed by it. The choice is ours. Being amused, indicates a level of understanding, and not taking it as a life or death situation. Every day something amusing happens naturally, it all probably depends on which side of your brain you are using.

Hi, my thoughts on the humour is similar to Lorraine. It would need to be clever and subtle. You are making him a leader and as such he will need to be strong and command respect. To balance humour with leadership isn't impossible, look at Margaret Thatcher for instance, she made me and the unions laugh!!! Sorry bad joke. Let him write himself, the action, conversation and intimate moments will tell you if he is humorous. Let him grow if he's not blossoming as he grows... prune him back and change his direction a little.
