David, you should just concentrate on finishing your first draft. Even after you have finished the first draft of your manuscript, you will still have to do many thorough edits before you experiment writing synopses and covering letters.
It has taken me a year to thoroughly editing my novel. I will start sending out numerous submissions to agents in the UK and USA. after I finish the synopsis over Christmas.
Whether I succeed or fail in hooking a literary gent, I will post their responses.
