Boring Storyline

Hi all. Does anyone else start to thing their story-line is becoming boring because it has to be read over and over? I read it several times to edit and correct typo's if it's needed. But the more I read it the more boring the story seems to become, then I begin to think if it's boring to me how would it seem to someone else reading it? I understand other people haven't read it and it would be new to them, but I need to be able to edit and correct without feeling like this. Help.

Hi Susan thank you for your advice. You hit the nail on the head, I do read it and think it's a load of boring old rubbish no one would want to read. Reading the rest of your input has made me think I need to get past this bump in the road and carry on. Thanks again.

Actually, after a rethink, I remember feeling as you do and making a list summarising each chapter. That way I could see the whole story arc, where there might be something a bit lacking, where the tension needed to be ratcheted up a bit & so on. I didn't enjoy doing it, but did find it very helpful.

I certainly felt the same during the endless rewriting & editing, and then when it was being published I was really worried that it was a boring load of old rubbish that no-one would enjoy...until I had the first published copy in my hands. At that point I was able to read it almost as though it was new to me and the pleasure was immense! In other words, don't worry too much at this point, it's normal!
