Can I please have your thoughts.

I have placed my first chapter of my new story up for view, and would be grateful if I could get your thoughts. I too have Grammar problems and suffer from dyslexia. However I am determined to produce a full novel in one form or another. I have titled this story under others because I'm not sure where to place it. The story is a romance based on mixed cultures and two people in love. It also has the thriller aspects as the two main characters suffer racial undertones and have to fight to keep together. So I am unsure what genre I should list it under. So I would be grateful for any suggestions.

The part you have posted reads like a thriller. However, as Victoria says, it all depends what you consider to be the main focus of the book. Without having read the whole novel it's difficult to make a firm judgement on the correct genre.

I would argue that if the romance is the main subject of the book all the way through, then it is a romance, even if it crosses over to other genres in places. Mine has a bit of action/adventure, medical mystery and is largely about people finding their place in the world, but at its core is a romance. I'm not afraid to call it that because it's such a huge category and I think there are few rules to it these days. Romance is an ever expanding umbrella.

I posted a suggested change to the opening paragraph.
