Career in Literature

I am trying to establish how to start out in book reviewing and editing - I have experience of helping a published author with a manuscript recently, and have been bitten by the bug to do more.

You could also try the Society of Proofreaders and Editors - they have courses and mentoring available. I actually found my editor through the listings on their site. Good luck with the search :)

Have you tried joining a peer-review site like Youwriteon.com ? They're always short of members who will review without posting work. That sort of thing can help hone your editing skills, too, because it's largely unpublished work.

The Historical Novel Society regularly look for reviewers and would probably welcome an email if that genre's your sort of thing, and there are a number of general online review sites who'd probably be glad of help.

Don't spread yourself too thinly, though :)
