chapter series for fun.

Hi,

I have been writing fictional short stories, poetry and fictional novels for the past 6 years and I write for the love of writing.

My favorite authors are Dean Koontz, Stephen King and James Herbert and I try to base my Genre around the Suspense/Thriller and Horror theme's.

I am currently working on a project that hopefully will be ready for submission later this year.

However, being an unknown and unpublished writer, I am aware of the difficulties I face in reaching my goal. With gaining an agents representation and ultimately getting my works published.

To help me in my quest, I have come up with an Idea to submit a story (separate to my current project), a chapter at a time on this site!

Would anyone be interested to read these chapters ?

Allowing me gain followers of my work ?

They could help with advice on character development, scene description or anything else?

But Ultimately this would give me a following to be able to show any respectable agents that my work is worth representation.

Hopefully this doesn't come across as being arrogant or cocky as that couldn't be further from the truth!!!

I'm confident in my work and have an attitude that if i don't believe in my own abilities, myself, then how can i expect others to believe in them either.....

I respectfully and humbly await advice.

Many thanks,

D.E.Mayall.

Hi Loraine,

Many thanks for your reply, the chapters I intend to post will be new, completely fresh chapters of a different story.

This will be written extra and alongside editing my current project.

The chapters therefore would not be the current project I wish for representation, but a completely different idea to try to entertain and gain followers.

I am more focused on the suspense side of my writing as opposed to gory horror. I personally prefer being drawn into a situation with the use of suspenseful explanations and my imagination works better. instead of being told all the gory, gruesomeness that some horror fiction can depict.

I completely understand that horror is not your thing,

However that may still serve a purpose and give a subjective view over the writing skill, to aid me with improving my abilities.

Of course it goes without saying any material of your own, you would like an unbiased eye casting over, then I would gladly assist.

I can be followed on Twitter @writerdmayall

Many thanks

Hi, David,

You write for the best reason there is - because you love it.

People do put sequential chapters on here for comment, so I can't see there's any reason why you can't. Be aware that some publishers/agents could consider this as having been published, as you'd be putting the work into the public eye.

Horror's not my thing, but you will find people here who do like it. Why not bite the bullet and put up a chapter?

The chances of getting an agent/publisher as an unknown are very, very slim. Doesn't mean it's impossible, and you have enough faith in yourself to keep trying. Good luck!
