Is it good to have a story that makes kids laugh a lot or is that cliched?

I think that children's books should always capture their imagination aswell

as make them laugh and as long as they enjoy the book that's all that's important.

It's the individual jokes / comic situations that you have to question: are they clichéd?

I think funny books for kids will always be commercially viable. (But only if they really are funny.)
