In one of my current Works, I am playing with the thought of writing a few chapters from a woman's persepective. Now, since I am a man, I know next to nothing about what goes on in a woman's head.
I have been thinking about finding a co-writer, but I don't know how to go around this. It has to be someone who can relate and write/possibly develop the character as well.
Has anyone here used co-writers? If so, how was the working experience and how did you find this "secondary" writer?
Patriarchal myth #1 : Woman are some other species which is different than the normal human male state we all know and love to read about.
Patriarchal myth #2: All women are connected to a Hive Mind to ensure they all think in exactly the same way about everything, thus, if one woman gives you the thumbs up about something, none of the others will complain.
Basically, what A Fox said. Consider the character first and foremost. Also, be wary of applying too broad labels. It's all very well to say "Criminals" are mainly male and "Fashionisters" are mainly female, but that wouldn't actually true if you said "Those with a criminal record for prostitution" and "head designers at European fashion houses".
Women (and men, and everybody else - because not everybody identifies clearly with a particular gender) are individuals. Create them as such.
Ah. You've assumed I've assumed, which rather makes my point in a roundabout way :)
That is a rather bizarre question in any context.
If you wish to consider further on my point perhaps you should examine why you have assumed I am not, in fact, a woman myself.
