Concentration slip.

For the last few months I have been working on If I Were a Bird and posting it on the site. Then I picked up something else I had been working on before this and began to work on it. My concentration seems to be slipping back and forth from one to the other. I know I should concentrate on one at a time, but while I'm working on one I'm thinking of plot lines for the other. Has this happened to anyone else? And if so, how do I get away from it.? Help.

Hi Andrew and Susan. Thank you for your advice. I think you're probably right taking a break from one and concentrating on the other could help. I will just go with it and carry on with both of them instead of trying to 'force' myself to only work on one at a time. Thanks again. Elsie

Of course, and why not? Just get down what's coming to you on either piece and eventually when they're both 'finished' you can begin the lengthy edit/rewrite process. And as already mentioned, a break from what you're working on is a good thing. There's no hard and fast 'method' anyone has to stick to to get the story down on paper or screen, so just relax, go with the flow, and enjoy the process.

I don't know anyone personally on this forum but I'll bet most of them experience this.

I get it and I've learned it's good to just go with it, not try to get away from it. Work on whatever you want to at the time. When you're working on one, you're taking a break from the other and that can be a good thing.
