Apart from the technical description of a connection, I would like to add that it is also a valuable channel of communication. As writers we lead a fairly solitary existence, so it is always nice to be 'connected' or 'networked' to people with similar interests and life style :)

Log onto to your Writer's & Artists account - top right hand corner;
You can write / update your profile, add your work on Shared Works, send messages and you'll also see who has sent you a Connection request. Just like GB you can accept or decline.
