dialogue

i have been writing my story on a narrative theme..i.e the writer ( being me ) is telling the story of her life. Is it important to put lots of dialogue in? if im missing lots of acutal " speaking" between characters, will it make the text less readable and boring? views would be great!

A wonderful example of a narrative novel is Harper Lee's To Kill A Mockingbird, in which the daughter of Aticus Finch recalls events that occured during one long hot summer during her childhood.

My advice is to simply read this book - It's a fine classic.

I don't think it is important at all. I have read some biographies recently (David Mitchell, James Cordon, Michael McIntyre etc) and all of them have limited dialogue. It doesn't make the book any less enjoyable.
