I am seriously considering moving down to London to make it, and I use this term warily, 'easier' to find more opportunities to meet the right people and ultimately get published. The only thing is that I would rather not if at all possible. Would getting an agent based in London save me having to move? I am an aspiring writer and illustrator for children's books and I also write science fiction for a more adult market. I'm not suggesting this would be an 'easy fix' at all but it does seem like avoiding the economic centre leaves more room to be looked over.
Am I wrong?
I can understand what you mean about networking but unless you live in the Shetland Isles I would have thought it was easier to just make a few visits. Moving seems a bit extreme, unless you really want to be in the city.
I just think any method is possible, but perhaps networking strengthens he frequency of opportunities?
Well...they say the first Harry Potter story was only published because a bored minion rescued it from the slush pile as a lunchtime read then persuaded an editor to take a second look. So I suppose anything's possible.
But that post(room) is a bit far-fetched, don't you think..? :)
