I like listening to music while I write, as long as it doesn't have lyrics. I find soundtracks to favourite/relevant movies help put you in the mood and they just fade into the background while you work.
I was just wondering what kind of music (if any) other people listen to when they're writing?
I've mentioned before that I use music I've played when writing has been easy to get me out of trouble on the days it's more difficult. Certain tracks put me in the right state of mind to get the best from my characters, but only because I associate those tracks with moments in the book. When I first started writing I imagined my characters hadn't seen each other for eight years and I saw them in a movie montage with 'I Love It When You Call' from The Feeling playing as they both worked. Even though their story has moved along way on from that, that song still reminds me of their work ethic and how rubbish mine is in comparison. That's usually enough for me to stop procrastinating and start typing!
