Does anyone know any good editors for a sci fi novel based in the UK?

Be very careful about picking an editor service from the web. There are a lot of rip off merchants out there. Firstly, check out the codes of conduct etc., on The Society for Editors and Proofreaders website, a UK professional organisation, this will give you an idea of what questions you need to ask, and what you can expect in the way of conditions of service. Secondly, decide what level of service you want. e.g. is this your first draft and you want to find out if the work makes sense? If so, make sure that you discuss how the report will be structured, and discuss time scales and agree time limits BEFORE handing over money.
My website is not up at the moment, but I have worked with over 10 writers so far - with beta reading / editing reports. I don't do line by line editing or proof reading - however I will point out obvious mistakes, and my strengths are analysing narrative structure and character development.
