Female British Asian Writer trying to Market my book 'Poems of a Journey Through My Life' by M Rahman published by PublishNation and available on Kindle Amazon

I am a female British Asian Writer trying to Market my new book 'Poems of a Journey Through My Life' by M Rahman, published by PublishNation, London, and available on Kindle Amazon now, I would like to know how can I promote my Book of Poetry?

I have had comments from 'writer friends' who have described the book as 'enjoyable, thought provoking, quite dark, moving, very good!'. I also had individual poems published by United Press and they described myself and other poets 'as being amongst the UKs talented poets!'.

I have belief in this book of poetry, I have been told that it is a confident piece of work, but how can I convince people that they should read my material?

I feel a bit sad at the moment, because I've worked so hard and have a real enjoyment for writing poetry, but I don't know how to promote my work, please help me?

I love poetry. There are many poets I like. It's a pity that more people do not read poetry, especially, want-to-be writers. I believe it would help their writing enormously.

Frost and Hardy would be a good starting point for those thinking about reading poetry.

I find certain poems and lines of poetry inspiring.

'Cursed be the social lies that warp us to the living truth' - Alfred Lord Tennyson. That line applies as much today as when it was written.

'Rage, rage against the dying of the light' - Dylan Thomas.

Carl Sandburg said, 'Poetry is an echo asking a shadow to dance'

I have written about 150 poems, but I have no intention of publishing any of them. Below is one I wrote about poetry.

Poetry

Heat of Imagination,

Rhythm of life.

A Speaking Picture,

Beauty, with Truth.

A Sip of Nectar

Blossom, fragrance.

Simon Armitage said that people should not write poetry in the hope to make money.

I wish you the best of luck.

Keep writing.

Hi MR.

Writing is a journey. The longer you continue that journey, the more you will feel comfortable with it, and the less you will worry about where it is taking you.

There is a saying: When the Poet passes our way, the Writer steps aside and admires the true genius at work (or something like that).

Now - I shall speak about my own experience. In the beginning, my enthusiasm was very high, but my experience and knowledge were low. As I've progressed, this in-balance has equaled out, so that today, I don't worry so much. I only worry if I'm not writing.

You've had some recognition already, so well done. Enjoy the journey, and don't worry if you haven't reached your destination yet. You will, if you keep writing, and put enjoyment and learning first. Opportunities will present themselves as your journey continues.

Hope my comments help. Regards from Maurice N.
