Greetings community! I launched my illustrated anthology, ' Journey back to Zanzibar' last Summer( Out now on Amazon) and am looking for an agent who is interested in a cross cultural project. The poems are inspired by my own experiences in the UK,Jamaica and ..Zanzibar.
I'm also looking for opportunities to read, conduct more poetry workshops( I currently do this in schools) and to use the poetry to encourage documentation of personal of family history. I love engaging with live audiences. Any ideas?
How about literary festivals? After Hay became so huge they started springing up all over the place and most are still running. That way you get to indulge your love of the live audience.
Hello Kate, thank you for your reply. I sent a release and photo and got myself in the local paper and on four different radio programmes to promote the book launch.
I got myself invited to a local WI to be their guest speaker on family history in October. I will certainly contact a local family history group in my area and check my local library for more groups. I have found the local library to be very helpful. Thanks again
Have you contacted your local newspaper? Our local rag sometimes has interviews with local(ish) authors or artists, which might get you some free promotion.
As for more audiences to read to, is there a family history group in your area? There might be other groups that look for speakers that your nearest library might know of.
