I am seeing some sites and have placed bids. Is it worth the hardwork ? I have spent almost one hour in writing out my profile , a sample and other things.
I want to know if anyone is a freelancer and how the ground situation.
Because I am not in dire need of money or something. I am quite provided for, I just needed experience, required a feeling of the outside world.
So, any comments ?
I've done freelance work for a few years, though only on a part time basis. However one of the great things I've taken from it is the ability to edit my own work, as you are usually constrained by word count and have to take into consideration tone and content of the finished piece as it is expected to be submitted in a completed format. So from that point of view it's been a great help when it comes to writing my own work.
Writing magazine usually has a whole section of freelance possibilities in each issue as a starting point for getting work. Getting published is the hard part, it can pay quite well depending, some people charge per piece, I have also worked for people who pay by word count, ie x amount per 400 words, whatever you're writing about. But if you love to write it is a great way to work with what you love, even if you don't always love the subject matter you are still working with the written word and the challenge is to make it something you are proud to submit.
I agree with Simon, I too I'm looking into doing a bit of freelancing
Freelancing is one of those things that can become self sustaining. The more you do, the more you can get. I often found good writing jobs advertised online - and yes, once you have a few under your belt, you can 'step up' and get better paying ones.
Plus, writing practice is always good.
