According to me, a good novel always should have a striking beginning. It should be effective. Many novels which I have read like - - Oliver Twist , Around the world in eighty days, they have awesome beginnings!
A good beginning should contain the following :-
1. Easy Language
2. Lucid Flow of Ideas/thoughts
3. No vivid introduction of the main character(it spoils the story)
4. Nicely described place or event
A good beginning always hooks in the reader to the plot. Otherwise he tends to be bored and push away the book!
