HG Wells Short Story Competition

Hello Everyone,

I want to participate in this competition but I am not sure of this topic "Fortune".

What exactly fortune means here, Or it could be anything from Luck to Riches.

Hi Ashwerya. Yep think the other people are correct about "fortune" being a wide guide. I don't think you have to write about science fiction just because it's H.G.Wells. he did write other stuff, if I dare refer to the great man's writing as "stuff" so let your imagination run like he did.

Remember the saying 'Fortune favours the brave', and then of course, someone can have ill fortune or good fortune. To have your fortune read just means a gypsy with a crystal ball predicting your future. So as Kate says, it's pretty vague and no harm in taking it as such.

Also remember that HG Wells wrote predominantly science fiction, but not involving inter-galactic battles for the main part, but rather how people dealt with the implications of technology and scientific advances.

Good luck Ashwerya and keep on doing.

I've always assumed that competition topics are intentionally vague so there is a bit of variety for the judges to read.
