Hiring an agent

Can anyone tell me what is the approximate price of hiring an agent?

Replies

I like you Susan thought the same, there is another post similar to this but the people involved wanted to charge the author £900 a month for 4 months a total of £3,600...so is there a scam going on when people are being asked for cash?

You don't hire one. Well, you do, but in a backhanded sort of way.

An agent makes money by charging a percentage of your earnings. So he has to be convinced that your MS will sell enough to earn a worthwhile amount before he'll take you on. If he tries to charge you right from the off you ought to run a mile.

Of course, plenty of agents are ladies - I just wrote the masculine because using 'they' with a singular subject never sounds right to me.

Can you hire an agent? I thought you submitted work to them in the hope they were willing to take you on.
