How did you start your novel?

Did you steam in Medias Res on the first page, or start somewhere in the middle? Perhaps you started at the end and worked backwards.

Hi Paul, I started at the beginning with dialogue and my protagonist in great danger from his enemy.

Hi Adrian, I always start at the beginning, it's the way I see the story. For me it's like watching a film in my head and I have to keep up with it as I write. The odd thing for me was an extra chapter in my first novel after I thought it was finished, not at the end, but a new chapter "one" where the protagonist is killed, well a near death experience as it turned out, which was a good job or 400 odd pages after that would have been a waste of time. How do you start yours?

Regards Paul.
