Its your story. You know it better than anyone. If you have let others view your work, did they just lance boils or offer remedies?

I think you have all listed it for me...... I cant better that. :)
If you are brave enough to share your work with others then you can expect criticism, but hopefully of the constructive kind. I always listen and then look at how their solutions would fit in the context of my story and what I am trying to create and convey. Sometimes it is useful, sometimes not, but I'm always grateful if someone has been good enough to read what I've written and offer a considered opinion.
Recently I gave my latest work to a friend to read and she looked at it and said 'Do you need the first three chapters?' She was absolutely right! I scrapped them and immediately had a better book. So, long answer to a short question, but I see constructive criticism, just like rejection, leading to a better book in the end.
I think I am thick skinned enough to take criticism if its positive
What I hate is when someone is too polite to say what they really think, for fear of putting you off or hurting your feelings, because you never know what they really think
When you get advice and its helpful and you can see how much better your work would be making a few changes --that's the best kind of criticism in the world
