I just recently finished my novella and I'm soooooo proud that I actually got something completed, and even more surprised of the fact I only started writing my story back in March by 'accident'.
Now, I'm in the process of writing a 'draft' and probably umpteenth drafts after that...
I'm wondering fellow writers, how many drafts until satisfaction? Or better still, the final draft which you think that is going straight to the publishers?
Opinions and tips welcome :)
Thanks
Thank you, Khai!!
I actually typed up three chapters on the computer and may continue typing all the chapters. I am actually going to take your advice into consideration; leave my work aside for a while probably for a few months and return back to it.
I just want to write more stories now!! :D Or simply wait a while...
Congratulations on completing your novella!
I'm not sure that writers are ever fully satisfied with their drafts, but there are numerous ways of getting the manuscript into its best possible shape for submission. Here are a few things you can do:
1. Leave the manuscript aside for a while in order to return to it with fresh eyes.
2. When you do return, read through it with a specific goal in mind instead of generally looking for whatever errors or problems you happen to notice.
3. Have it critiqued or appraised by other people (other writers, avid readers, and professional if possible).
I'm sure other community members have other ideas, too.
