How long have you been writing your book?

I've been writing my first of a trilogy for 3 years, Yes I said 3 years.

It's a hobby and I would have no problem keeping my story all to myself, forever, mine mine mine.

My inspiration came from a bunch of conspiracy theories I've been pretty much fed my whole life from my paranoid ganja smoking father.

I read somewhere J.K Rowling took 7 years to finish the first Harry Potter book 1990-97. John Boyne however wrote 'The boy in Striped Pajama's' in less than 3 days.

How long have you been writing yours and what was your inspiration.

My first novel took 9 months to write and 2 and a bit years to rewrite/edit/rewrite/edit/edit... I'm still doing it. The inspiration came from a conversation I had about dreams - how to know if you were awake or not...

@Ashwerya: sometimes creativity doesn't have an on button, but always seems to have an off button...:)

Hello Mykie, I loved the first two lines, same with me.

I completed mine a long time ago, and every time i go through it, editing and editing. Although I have started another 2 projects so working on those, but 3 or 4 years is a common time. Don't worry if it takes eve more than that.

Creativity doesn't have an on and off button, so take as much as it needs.

First story took three years, the second took four and I'm two years into the third. The main problem is real life sticks its oar in an gives a good stir ever now and then.

I'd love to be able to write one a year but it's not going to happen in the foreseeable :(
