How long should each chapter be?

I imagine this question has been asked on here before, I may have even read an answer to it but I can't remember!! If someone could just give me a clue about how long the average chapter in the average novel should be, thanks!

Publishers/ agents/ editors ask for double spacing so they have room to write their notes on your manuscript. You don't have to work your way through your whole book hitting return, though. You can make your whole document double spaced on Microsoft Word by going through Paragraph then Indents and Spacing.

I also heard that when one submits a manuscript to a publisher or agent it should done with a double space between the lines of text:

This...

And then this...

Is that correct?
