I know it will make for a good story if I kill one of my characters, but he's so great and I think I love him a little bit...........also, hi everyone isn't the writing life solitary? I never thought I would be able to spend so much time alone but I do and I am making really good progress with my book I think I am anyway, words are going on the page, hopefully one day someone will want to read them!

I've not faced that yet, but I do have a character that will die early in the second act of my novel, and I worry that I'm a little too sympathetic to him already. I need to finish his pen portrait and fully understand him, but it's the impact his death will have on everyone else that will be most difficult; he'll be a very well-loved character within the story.

I did have a character I killed who I mourned for several weeks afterwards. I'm still sad about it but unfortunately that was his story and I couldn't tell it any other way. And yes, such a solitary thing, writing - you have to enjoy your own company. Still, sites like this one are great, makes you feel as though you are still part of a greater community. Good luck with the writing!
