Hi All
Sorry to bother. I'm a former wildlife film maker (producer with Attenborough etc) and am writing and illustrating a very accessible British nature guide to appeal to enthusiastic 9-12 year olds.
Where do I go next?
What do I do next?
Any guidance most welcome.
Best wishes, Fergus (see www.fergusbeeley.com)
You don't mention if you have children yourself. Even if you do, I would talk to anyone and everyone who works with children in some way. School teachers and other professionals have child development skills that extend to child reading skills. They will be able to advise you as to whether it will appeal to this age range and whether they will understand it. I would think that would be crucial as to whether or not you sell your book successfully. I once did an exhibition and found that I had to research reading ranges for children to ensure they would understand my work as well as adults. Very difficult. At least here you have a definite age range so that should be easier to achieve. I wish you every success.
