Wow!
I'm never going to regret signing up here. All of your answers seem enough to turn things around, a lot! Now I feel that I've got a more positive approach to my work. I'm not so worried about it being good or bad because I enjoy writing and I can accept change so that I can improve. Thank you all so much. Really appreciate it!
Hi Yasmine.
You may find some crumbs of comfort in my blog series on this site. 'The Loneliness of the Long-Distance Writer'. We writers crave acceptance of our work. Many of our loved ones whose views we solicit intuitively know this and it makes their critique of dubious value, in my opinion.
In the end, ours is a lonely craft. Victoria is absolutely right that we have to hone our skills but, in the end, it comes down to why one writes. When we sort that out in our own minds, it does help the process. For me, it was - at least initially - about just doing it. It was to see if I was able to create something out of my imagination and see if it mighty fly. It was only after I'd completed it that I started to contemplate its publication.
I'm not saying that suits you, only that it suited me!
Good luck.
