The anthology in aid of refugees, "Stranger(s) In A Strange Land", has been handed over to the printers!!! 1,000 copies SHOULD be ready for the launch at the Barcelona Book+Rose Fair on the 23rd of April.
The following members of this Writers And Artists forum have contributed generously (all profits go to volunteers who work with refugees) flash fiction, poems, and - in some cases - graphic art, and we at La Gr@not@ are extremely proud of all of you! (As well as of those contributors not on this forum.) In strict alphabetical order, the W&As members:
Clare Williams
Daphne Milne
Emilie van Damm
Hache L. Jones
Hannah Denno
Helen Jones
Jimmy Hollis i Dickson
Katie Vandrilla
Theresa-Mary McGlinchey
Victoria Fielding (who dragged her daughter and her mother into the project)
Wilhelmina Lyre
Take a bow, ALL of you!
Now here's the question: How many of the more observant among the readers of this list noticed that there's only ONE male name on it? In fact, of 14 writers, I am the only man in the bunch. Of 10 graphic artists, only 3 of us are men.
Anybody who says that Feminism is a past phenomenon, with nothing left to struggle for, is talking through their... hat!
Brilliant. As ever Jimmy pushing for the displaced in the world. I hope the book needs more print runs than your printer can handle and it makes a phenomenal amount for the cause.
My very best wishes with this Jimmy, regards Paul G
Several minutes later and this hasn't appeared yet, so I post it again. Apologies if delayed-action means that it appears twice:
Despite (feeble?) attempts by the education system to break down gender-specific differences, females still tend to care more for others. A few men have CONSIDERED contributing something to this anthology, a few others have expressed positive and negative opinions on it, but... talk is cheap.
A woman whom I will hate until the day I die, for what she did to dehumanise society and wreak the international economy, a woman intent on demonstrating that her testosterone levels were much higher than any of her male colleagues', managed to come up with one of my favourite quotes on the man/woman divide:
"If you want an opinion, ask a man. If you want something done, ask a woman." - The Right Horrible Margaret Thatcher
Well done. Let us know how you get on at the Book Fair.
