Job prospects

Hi all,

Can anyone suggest areas of work that would compliment the desires of being a writer? I'm currently a teacher of English but want to make a change and can't seem to find the 'right' thing!

Thanks :)

If you want to use writing in your work, staff writer / blogger positions are the most likely. To make the move you can always start as freelance, to build up a portfolio and help find more jobs. I moved from freelance writing to a full-time gig (and, of course, am hoping to eventually make the final leap into full time fiction...)

LinkedIn has several groups for freelancers to share ideas / discuss rates, etc, and then sites such as elance.com can help connect with clients.

I would think being a teacher would be excellent - quite a few writers have been/are teachers - it probably keeps your brain fizzing more than many jobs
